Visit by horse-drawn carriages, ancient ancestral and archaeological sites that were re-discovered in 1974. The ancient city of Wiang Kum Kam
was the first capital of Lanna Kingdom founded by King Meng Rai, its first ruler, before establishing Chiang Mai as the permanent capital city in
1839 BE (1296 AD). Following a massive flood, the city of Wiang Kum Kam vanished without a trace. For over 200 years, Wiang Kum Kam became
a lost city buried under layers of earth at depths of 1 to 4 metres.
